WHAT "MINDFUL MASSAGE THERAPY" IS ABOUT?
Our bodies are in perpetual motion and our minds tend to follow the same pattern, always thinking about something we need to do.
It is a rare occurrence for the body and mind to relax and be totally in the present.
Attending to the present moment is being in a state of mindfulness.
Massage therapy and bodywork in general are excellent ways to encourage mindfulness.
Therapeutic touch facilitates being present, being in the here and now.
The "Mindful Massage Therapy" is a mixed technique of meditation and massage, where the patient is first guided in a complete relax state of mind through mindfulness and yoga meditation techniques, such as breath awareness.
The second part of the session is reserved to a full-body relaxing massage, especially focused on the body parts where the patient feels more stress and pain.
